Majhli Didi (1967)
Kishan (Sachin) a small village boy, finds himself transported to his married step sister Kadambini (Lalita Pawar) after his widowed mother (Leela Chitnis)'s death. Kadambini takes her brother's responsibility with the intention of possessing his small village properties. Her husband, Navin (Bipin Gupta), accepts this arrangement and turns a blind eye to the ill-treatment that Kishan suffers. The other members of the household are Navin's younger brother, Bipin (Dharmendra) and his wife Hemangini (Meena Kumari), a noble lady, large hearted, gentle and ever righteous. Kadambini wants a nuclear family and she succeeds in dividing the ancestral property. Meanwhile, Kishan is treated as a servant and Hemangini cannot tolerate his suffering at the hands of the cruel Kadambini. Kishan's entry into Bipin's portion of the house is also now restricted. Hemangini falls seriously ill, and Kishan is horrified to find that she seems to be ailing from the same illness that caused his mother's death...
