Vinay (Dev Anand) is a dashing young man, who has a knack for evaluating diamonds. His police commissioner dad (Nasir Hussain) doesnt
approve of his profession and throws him out of the house. He starts
working for Seth Vishambhar Nath (Sapru), whose daughter Anjali (Tanuja) falls for Vinay. At a party, Vinay bumps into Shalu (Vyjayanthimala) and her brother Arjun (Ashok Kumar), and this encounter leads Vinay to believe that he may have a look-alike who goes by the name of Amar and is a jewel thief...
