Razia was chosen by her father Sultan Altamash as his successor to rule India in 13th century, inspite of his having a score of sons. She is the only woman who ever sat on the throne of Delhi. Two men came in Razia's life prominently-Altunia the commander in-chief of his time and Yaqut a negro slave who loved Razia equally well, but the former selfishely while the latter selflessly and was rather devoted to her and faithful like a dog. But as luck would have it, Razia fell for Altuina who was intolerant and jealous of Yaqut and ultimately imprisoned Razia misunderstanding the relationship between her and Yaqut. But Yaqut proved his mettle by sacrificing his life to save the life of Altunia, Razia loved him. Along with the jewelled crow, Sultan Altamash, while dying, put on Razias head a great responsiblity of accomplishing an unfulfilled task of justice which he owed to a common citizen Maqbul whose daughter was forcibly abducted by prince Seemab, Razia's brother who absconded after the crime and could not be punished. The poor girl had died of fright in the arms of the oppresser. Torn between her duty and brotherly sentiment Razia's hear was tormented. But then she bravely faced the revolt of Cheifs and courteirs who refused to obey her because they were men and Razia was woman. She taught them a lesson and Yaqut was the only man who stood by her in her troubles. Again the situation grew worse when the rebel chiefs joined hands with absconder prince Seemab and this time her right hand man Yaqut was no more. They plotted to assasinate Razia and her allies and were almost successful in their nasty plot, but a miracle happened and in the eleventh hour tables were turned on miscreants.
