Advocate Ravi Anand (Balraj Sahni) is living a happy life with wife Madhu (Nirupa Roy), kid, and a college going younger brother, Vijay (Randhir Kapoor). Vijay meets bubbly Neeta Thakur (Jaya Bhaduri) in
college and after initial fights, they fall in love. However, they soon realize that there is a past history between two families, Vijay's sister-in-law, Madhu had married against her brother's wish, who happens to be Neeta's dad, Thakur (Iftekhar).
