Voted as the most unconventional hero, this 'bihari babu' actually started his career playing villains opposite the likes of Dev Anand, Jeetendra and Amitabh Bachchan. Became a major star with Subhash Ghai's Kalicharan (1976). Is famous for his dialogue delivery and his quick wit has earned him the nickname of Shotgun.

His affair with actress Reena Roy is quite famous. Lost to Superstar Rajesh Khanna in Indian Parliament Elections, but since then, has had a a very successful career in Politics. Supposed to have passed on the roles in movies like Sholay and Deewaar, which eventually went to Amitabh Bachchan.
