Started as a child artist with her sister Nutan in 50s, and went on to become a leading lady during 60s and 70s. Was quite successful in early 70s due to movies with superstar Rajesh Khanna, but never became a huge name like her sister, and got married. Came back to movies after having 2 daughters in lates 70s and has been doing character roles since then.

1950 - Present

Guru Dutt is supposed to have helped her refine her acting. Was married to Shomu Mukherjee, younger bro of Joy and Deb Mukherjee. Daughter Kajol became the leading actress of 90s.
