Got noticed with brother-in-law Raj Kapoor's Aag (1948) and Barsaat (1949). For next 15 yrs, made many movies as a lead actor, mostly flops. Became a popular villain with Vijay Anand's Teesri Manzil (1966) and went on to act in some of the most successful movies of 70s as the villain.
Trivia
All movies with wife Bina Rai, a successful actress otherwise, were flops. Was also a producer/director and musician for some of his early movies.
