"Maila Anchal" is the story of an orphan girl - Nisha, for whom life was but a dark night. Never being loved since childhood, Chand came into her life, only to make her when she was going to become mother of his child. . Alok Swami loved Nisha as his own daughter and at this stage gave her shelter in his Ashram. Chand took advantage of the situation and declared Alok Swami as the father of the child that Nisha was carying in her womb. Innocent villagers also mistook the fatherly relation of Alok Swami to Nisha and they forced them to get married. This torture was unbearable to Alok Swami who died at the marriage pandal itself, leaving Nisha as his widow. . Jyoti and Gilan were professors in the same college in Bombay and were dreaming of becoming life partners. Nisha being left all alone in this world, came to Jyoti, her cousin, who was the only one who used to love her since childhood. Having known of Nisha being a widow at this tender age, Gian developed sympathy towards her but this sympathetic attitude of Gian towards Nisha was being mistaken by Jyoti who for the happiness of her cousin, sacrificed her own love and compelled Nisha and Gian to get married. . For a short while, there came happiness in the life of Nisha, till she found that Gian was the son of Alok Swami and she was left to deccide.
