Aniruddha Sharma (Jimmy Shergill) lives in the Railway Colony in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, with his dad (Tinnu Anand), who is a train driver, his mom - a housewife, one younger brother and sister. He studies in a nearby college and also performs on the stage. He has a stunningly beautiful sweetheart by the name of Niharika Singh (Hrishitaa Bhatt), who lives a wealthy lifestyle with her dad (Sharat Saxena) and mom. Niharika's dad does not approve of Aniruddha and asks Niharika never to see him again, but she does so secretly. Then one day Aniruddha assists Ranvijay Singh (Irrfan Khan), the rival of Gauri Shankar Pandey (Ashutosh Rana), both of who are running for college president. Ranvijay appreciates this and makes Aniruddha a friend. Aniruddha then assists Ranvijay to become the College President, in return Ranvijay arranges for Aniruddha and Niharika to meet secretly in an abandoned cinema theater. When Singh finds out, he gets two men who beat up Aniruddha, and takes Niharika home. Ranvijay gives Aniruddha a gun and asks him to avenge himself. Aniruddha does so, and one of the men is wounded. The police come to arrest Aniruddha for Attempt to Murder, but Ranvijay assists Aniruddha to escape to Bombay and live with Chhutku (Rajpal Yadav) for sometime. In Bombay Aniruddha gets assaulted, he finds out who assaulted him and returns home - only to be told that Niharika is getting married to none other than Ranvijay himself. Under these circumstances what can Aniruddha do to expose Ranvijay and prevent him from getting married to his sweetheart?
