On Nihal (Milind Gunaji)'s birthday, Zohravar (Dalip Tahil) and his brother (Deep Dhillon) plant a bomb in his cake, but Balraj Dutt (Amrish Puri) manages to save Nihal's life, but Zohravar kills Nihal's grandfather, Baba Thakur (Dara Singh), leader of an underground gang. While dying Baba makes Balraj promise that he will look after Nihal and protect him at all costs, and subsequently passes away. The police arrest Zohravar, and he is imprisoned for several years. Years later, Balraj is still looking after a grown-up Nihal, as well as his daughter, Komal (Twinkle Khanna). Fearing for Komal's safety, he hires a street-fighter, Raj (Akshay Kumar), to be her bodyguard. What Balraj does not know that Raj and Nihal are each other's enemies, and Raj has sworn to kill Nihal for molesting and killing his sister. And to complicate matters further, Zohravar has been released from prison, and is all set to avenge his humiliation against Balraj and his family.
